Death after single-vehicle accident on Ross-shire road

AN ACCIDENT on a stretch of road in Ross-shire has resulted in a death.

The accident, involving a good vehicle, happened on the A835 around just south of Ullapool around lunchtime this afternoon.

In a statement issued later, police said: "Police Scotland can confirm that one person has died following a one-vehicle road traffic collision involving a goods vehicle on the A835 around three miles south of Ullapool at Loch Broom.

"Police were made aware of the incident at around 1.06pm and are currently in attendance at the scene along with other emergency services.

"The road is expected to be closed for a considerable amount of time and diversions are beings set up via the Ledmore junction.

"Motorists are advised that the diversions will add a significant amount of delay to journey times."
