Deadline looms for entries for Inverness Music Festival 2025
Performers of all ages and stages are urged to get in their entries for next year’s Inverness Music Festival which describes itself as ‘performance for everyone’.
The annual event on the city's cultural calendar is a showcase for hundreds of amateur performers with classes in music of all genres, speech, drama, composition and even a primary art competition.
The last date for entries is Friday December 20.
The festival will take place at Inverness Methodist Church in Huntly Street over the course of two weekends - March 6 to 9 and March 13 to 16.
Jason McClurg, chairperson of Inverness Festival Association, has also issued an appeal for future sponsors or funding of the event which was established more than 100 years ago.
“We have been very fortunate over the years to have received the continued support from the Inverness Common Good Fund without whose support we wouldn’t have a festival today and we will always be grateful to them for it,” he said.
“However, this year, our application was not successful.
“We are fortunate enough to have the necessary funds to run this year but looking to the future we need to find alternative sources of funding for the festival.
“If anybody would like to sponsor the festival, or knows where funding is available, please let us know.
“As always, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their continued support of the festival.”
He said the annual showcase had been welcoming groups and individuals for more than 100 years.
“Everyone is welcome – all ages, all stages, no matter your background you are welcome to join us,” he said.
“We want to share a love of music and creative arts, and give everyone the opportunity to stand up and try out their performance skills in a supportive environment.”
The adjudicators at the 2025 festival will be Willie Aristide Deighan, Keith Hamilton, Fiona Maclean-Buechel, Paul Anderson, Isbel Pendlebury, Iain Campbell, Ceitidh Campbell and Lisa Milne.
