Highland Council is extending the renewal period for brown bin permits until this Friday.

The local authority said it has experienced IT issues over the past few days, some of which affected online forms.

As this prevented some customers from renewing their brown bin permit online over the weekend a decision has been taken to extend the deadline from August 2 to August 6.

Customers who renew by Friday will ensure they have their permit in time for the first collections of the new service year on September 1.

Permits can be purchased online at www.highland.gov.uk/gardenwaste
