THE deadline has been extended for a consultation to find a site for the proposed new "super school" in Tain.

Comments were due to be in by a cut-off point last Friday but Highland Council has now extended the deadline to Friday July 18.

The 3-18 years school campus will replace the existing Tain Royal Academy, Craighill and Knockbreck primaries and St Duthus Special School.

The three options under consideration are: the existing Tain Royal Academy site, the existing Craighill Primary School campus and a site at Kirksheaf.

Details of each of these site options are available on the council’s website at: www.highland.gov.uk/tainschool.

The council is consulting with those affected by the decision to amalgamate the schools on the best site for the proposed new school building and the public are invited to provide comments on the three site options.

A report on the outcomes of the community engagement will be presented to the council’s education committee on August 28.

Members of the public are invited to submit their comments:

• via a discussion forum on the council’s website at www.highland.gov.uk/tainschool

• by e-mail: ecsadmin@www.highland.gov.uk; or

• in writing to: Ron MacKenzie, Head of Resources, The Highland Council, Care and Learning Service, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX.
