Dingwall dad-to-be told ‘time you grew up’
An expectant father woke up in a bad mood and shouted abuse at his pregnant partner which forced the distressed mum-to-be to leave her home wearing only her pyjamas.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the woman managed to phone the police who attended at the property in Peffery Road, Dingwall on the morning of January 11, and found her outside.
Fiscal depute Victoria Silver told the court: "She was crying and saying: 'I can't do this anymore. I am pregnant' and asked the officers to get her boyfriend, Sebastian Percival (22), out of the house.
Percival was arrested and, when he appeared before Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his partner.
Ms Silver said that the woman did not want a non harassment order imposed on Percival as she wanted him to attend the birth of their child, which is around two months away.
Sheriff Macdonald acceded to her wish but ordered Percival to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work.
She told him that he had "a bit of a record.' and added: "This is a very nasty offence involving someone you are supposed to be caring for and who is relying on you."
The sheriff criticised his "temper tantrums" and told Percival, who is currently living in Blane Place, Elgin: "It is time you grew up."
