EMERGENCY services were scrambled to the scene when a car crashed off the A9 dual-carriageway southbound on the A9 near Tore this morning.

The vehicle ended up on its wheels in a field.

Commuters who passed the scene thought it struck the central reservation before careering off the road to the left.

It is also understood that three other vehicles may have been involved in the incident.

Fire and rescue units from Inverness attended along with police and ambulances including a fast response paramedic unit.

The road was reduced to one lane for a time.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that one person was stabilised in the car by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel and then removed from the vehicle using the fire service's hydraulic equipment and then treated in the ambulance. The fire service also helped make the scene safe. No further details about injuries were known at the time of writing.
