A ROSS-SHIRE councillor has flagged business help available for "the entrepreneurs we’ll need to drive the recovery in the Highlands" in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.

Tain and Easter Ross councillor Derek Louden made his remarks after Highland Council's economy and infrastructure committee.

He is part of the SNP’s group which called for a stronger effort to let businesses know that there is help available to them with regard to their non-domestic rates bills.

The council agreed to publicise this.

Firms interested in getting help for a material change in circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic can look here.

Cllr Louden, SNP spokesperson on economy and infrastructure, said: "We need to make sure that we protect the entrepreneurs we’ll need to drive the recovery in the Highlands by helping them where we can.

"Let’s hope they can access the relief which should be available to them for a reduction in their rateable value due to a material change in circumstances.”
