ONE in five patients in an Easter Ross medical practice's Covid-19 vaccination clinic failed to turn up this week.

Tain and Fearn Area Medical Practice said it was "disappointed" that 20 per cent of patients in the 18-39 age group did not attend for their Covid vaccination appointment on Thursday "with no explanation or notice given".

It reported that luckily "this did not result in the loss of any doses".

It said: "We appreciate that sometimes the unexpected happens and people cannot make an appointment but we would be grateful if they could contact the practice to let us know as this then gives us a chance to try and contact other patients who want the vaccine to come in instead.

"We have tried to phone all patients in the above age category but are having a very poor response with patients either not answering their phones, not replying to voice messages or not responding to texts sent.

"When we ring you it will probably show up as a private number but please answer the call. If you think you have been missed please contact the Health Centre to let us know or if you think your details are incorrect please update them. If you have decided you do not wish to have the vaccine please also let us know so that we can remove you from our phone list.

"Please note that we only have one more clinic scheduled for first vaccinations for this age group at the moment."

That is on Monday, July 19.

For anyone that is unable to attend on that date, there is also a drop-in clinic – with no appointment necessary – at Smithton Church, Inverness on Saturday, July 17 between 9am and 4pm.

The practice posted: "Please share this message with friends and family who may not have access to Facebook."
