Covid-19 cases increase by 100 in NHS Highland area

One-hundred new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across the NHS Highland area in the last 24 hours.

The figures published on Friday showed a total of 3216 fresh positive cases across Scotland, representing 9.9 per cent of tests for the day.

In the NHS Grampian area, there were 213 new cases, while Orkney registered three, the Western Isles two and there was one new case in Shetland.

The majority of cases were recorded in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (792) and NHS Lothian (775).

A total of 427 people across the country were in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19 last night, 39 of those in intensive care.

There were six new reported deaths of people who have tested positive.

Meanwhile, 3,911,189 people have received their first dose of the Covid vaccination and 2,843,938 have received their second dose.
