Black Isle couple's popular family fun day in aid of Marie Curie set to return to Black Isle Showground in Muir of Ord
A BLACK Isle couple who have helped raise £20,000 for a nursing service offering highly-valued terminal illness care in people’s homes are setting the stage for another family fun day.
Farmers Andrew and Claire Cameron are hosting a winter scale model show, food and craft fair in aid of Marie Curie for the fifth year.
The event is taking place from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, October 19 in the Black Isle Show grounds at Muir of Ord.
The event will have scale model displays of cars, tractors, cranes and even some Lego creations.
Also promised is great selection of local food and handmade craft stalls. Crafter applications have doubled since last year. Also being lined up are vintage cars, lorries and tractors along with entertainment and kids’ activities.
Claire Cameron, a Marie Curie nurse, said: “Andrew and myself were overwhelmed with people’s generosity at the event last year and couldn’t believe we raised over £6000 for Marie Curie. So far to date the event has raised over £20,000. I understand the importance of making sure people and their families are aware of the Marie Curie nursing service in the Highlands and the impact the nurses can have on a family at a very difficult and emotional time.
“Please come along and support this event to help raise funds for this hugely deserving charity.”
Entry is free but all donations on the day will go to Marie Curie.
The charity offers care and support through terminal illness. To get a Marie Curie Nurse, speak to your district nurse or GP in the first instance.
