ROSS County’s Scottish Cup dreams came to an end on Tuesday night when they were defeated 2-1 by their Highland neighbours Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the fourth round replay.

Ten days after a thrilling 3-3 encounter at the Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall, the two teams met again in bitterly cold weather in Inverness for a chance to reach round five against Kilmarnock in February.

Caley opened the scoring when they were awarded a penalty in the eighth minute - to howls of protest from County fans - and Billy McKay slammed it home.

County equalised when Iain Vigurs came back with a sensational goal late in the first half.

Ten minutes into the second half Caley went 2-1 up when Mckay netted his second.

The Staggies fought hard and threw everything they had at their local rivals, but it was the Caley Jags who earned the fifth round place.
