A SECOND country music drive-in show has been announced for a popular Ross-shire outdoor venue following the success of a coronavirus-friendly trailblazer last month.

The Black Isle Showground at Mannsfield in Muir of Ord will host Philomena Begley, Gary Gamble, Joe Moore and the Keltic Storm Band.

The gig comes hot on the heels of a similar drive-in put on by Liam and Lorraine Christie's North Highland Events group at the same venue. Around 200 people turned up for the socially distanced drive-in hoedown with a clear demand for more.

The September 20 gig will mark a swift return to Ross-shire for the Keltic Storm Band and Gary Gamble who performed last month.

Mr Christie, who has become a familiar face to many across the county as a supermarket delivery driver during the coronavirus crisis, said of last month's show: "We were delighted to work with the agencies to bring live music back to the area in a safe environment. The entertainment business has been decimated because of the pandemic and we cannot thank the fans enough for coming out to support the event.

"On a personal basis it was very emotional for all associated with North Highland Events to get back to doing what we do best, providing great entertainment and looking after our guests. It has been tough for so many these last few months so it was great to bring some much-needed cheer."

He said there has been a good response to the event: "The overall feedback on socials has been really positive and folk wanting more.Once the attendees got into the swing of beeping horns and flashing lights along with clapping it was a real hoot! The event flowed seemlesly with no incidents and even the security staff were dancing."
