A ROSS-SHIRE golf club whose membership numbers soared after lockdown celebrated its 100th member joining the club since re-opening.
Muir of Ord Golf Club, which reopened in May after coronavirus restrictions were lifted, experienced an unprecedented level of new memberships, with the 100th member joining in September.
The lucky number was marked by Inverness resident Carl Stubbs, who was gifted with a logo club shirt for the occasion.
Club manager, John Forbes said: "We are very happy and Carl seemed delighted when he received the news, it was a surprise for him.
"We really didn't expect this success, it was very unusual to have so many new members but it has certainly helped our business over this strange year.
"Now it's not as manic as it has been when we had just reopened but it has been great for us.
"We've had many people trying golf for the first time or coming from other sports, and golf is a great way to spend time out in the fresh air but still allows for social distancing, so everyone can benefit from it."
At present, the new memberships stand at around 120 members who joined after May, for a total of 280.
