Cleaner Tanya Stewart refused to co-operate with police when officers wanted to question her about a road traffic incident.

The 31-year-old mother of three of Broom Court, Conon Bridge was at home just after midnight on September 14, 2023 when she declined to provide answers.

Then when she was required to give a breath specimen she again did not carry out the procedure properly, fiscal depute Sophie Marshall told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald.

"She was given several opportunities. She claimed she was trying," Ms Marshall added.

Defence solicitor John MacColl conceded to the court: "She should have tried harder."

Mr MacColl added that his client required her driving licence to drive her children around to various sporting events and although she was not employed currently, she hoped to get back into work and the licence would be useful.

But Sheriff Macdonald was not impressed by Stewart's lack of cooperation and said she regarded her behaviour as serious.

She disqualified Stewart for five months and fined her £580.
