BREAKING: 'Compulsive liar' Boris Johnson will resign 'without honour' says Easter Ross MP in scathing reaction to tumultuous developments

THE widely reported impending resignation of Boris Johnson as Tory party leader is "without honour, dignity or pride".

Boris Johnson has said he will step down as Prime Minister after a wave of ministerial resignations, according to widespread reports

That's the scathing assessment of Easter Ross MP Jamie Stone who branded Mr Johnson – who is reportedly keen to remain PM until the autumn – "a compulsive liar".

He said: "Make no mistake. There was no honour, no dignity, no pride to be taken in Boris Johnson’s resignation.

"The Prime Minister is, and has been since childhood, a compulsive liar. And though his cronies fell like dominoes over the past two days, each and every one of them who backed him as leader in 2019 must shoulder the blame for the absolute shambles that we, as a country, have had to endure.

"British politics has been dragged through the mud. Whoever and whatever comes next has a mammoth task in restoring our broken reputation."
