A BREWERY hit by a break-in earlier this week has praised the way the community has rallied round in the wake of the crime.
Cromarty Brewing Company's shop was broken into sometime in the early hours of Thursday morning. The office door was smashed open, and the till, laptop computers and a range of brewery merchandise were stolen.
The mess left by the thief forced the Black Isle shop to briefly close to the public to allow for a clean-up.
And, taking to social media this afternoon, the owners of the brewery announced that it had now reopened.
"Huge thanks to all who has sent messages relating to yesterday’s break in – it's amazing to see such a lovely community supporting us," they said. "Massive thanks to Sutor Creek [in Cromarty] for feeding Chap and Jenni last night."
They added: "The shop is now open and will continue as normal next week."
The brewery was one of two local businesses that were broken into overnight on Wednesday/Thursday .
The Egg Box Shop was also the victim of a thief, and police believe both break-ins are linked.
Police said that "various items were stolen from both locations" and issued a detailed description of the suspect.
He is white, of an average build and around 6ft tall. At the time of the incidents, he was wearing a white baseball cap, a green/navy snood, navy coloured fleece jacket, dark worker's combat style trousers with a green pocket cover and red/black gloves.
He also had a dark coloured watch on his left wrist.
Acting Sergeant Alasdair Lee, of Dingwall Community Policing, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have any information relating to these incidents.
“Although this happened through the night, we would ask if anyone noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area to contact officers.
“We believe that both incidents are linked and we would encourage members of the local community to contact police if they have any information that could assist with our investigation.
“Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 0458 of Thursday, September 3, 2020.”
