A new fund for community groups in Marybank, Scatwell and Strathconon is being launched.

The fund is being provided by EDF Renewables, and is linked to its Corriemoillie wind farm, which opened in 2016.

Groups working to benefit the local area can apply for grants from £250 to £5000.

The deadline for first round applications is January 31, 2020, with award decisions being made in late March.

EDF Renewables has been assisted in the set-up of the fund by independent grant-making body Foundation Scotland.

Decisions on grant awards will be made by a panel of local people who will also review and guide the fund strategy.

The Panel are hoping to receive project applications from local groups which will:

Enhance quality of life for local residents

Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities

Promote community spirit and encourage community activity

Starting in 2016, EDF Renewables Corriemoillie Marybank, Scatwell and Strathconon Community Fund received an annual payment of £9690 and has now accrued £29,283. The fund will be available for as long as the wind farm is operating, which is expected to be at least 25 years.

For further information about how to apply to the fund visit https://www.foundationscotland.org.uk/programmes/marybank-scatwell/ or phone the fund co-ordinator Marion McDonald on 07912 759524.
