A commuter service from Sutherland to Inverness this morning was cancelled after a communications fault.

The 06:13 service from Ardgay to Inverness did not run, affecting passengers at eight stops in between, including Tain, Alness and Dingwall.

A ScotRail spokesman said: “This train has been cancelled because of a fault with the radio system between the driver and the signaller.”

For the same reason, the 06:26 Lairg to Inverness service due into the city at 08:12 started from Tain and didn’t call at Lairg, Invershin, Culrain and Ardgay.
