A COLLISION partially blocked the A9 at Tain for a short time today.

The emergency services were alerted shortly after 7am that a lorry and a van had collided near the A9 junction with Knockbreck Road, the southern access to Tain.

Police, ambulance and four fire units were turned out to the incident, but only Tain fire and rescue officers attended, while the others were stood down before arrival.

A fire service spokesman said the Tain unit was not required to take action at the scene. A Police Scotland spokesman said it was believed the person taken to hospital was not seriously hurt.

The road was reopened a short time later.
