THE cold snap that has brought snow and plunging temperatures to many parts of Ross-shire has prompted the postponement of a planned play scheme this week.

The Place youth group in Alness has planned a series of outdoor events to comply with coronavirus restrictions at The Field, a site it has been using during the lockdown period.

A dusting of snow at the beginning of the week put the early plans on hold.

The group posted: "We have been closely monitoring the weather this week in order to make plans around our Easter play scheme and workshops in The Field.

"Unfortunately, the weather has been, and continues to be, heavily against us. In order to ensure the safety of our staff and young people, we have decided to cancel all plans for the remainder of the week.

"Although this is very disappointing for both our staff and community, we do have alternative, fun plans for the rest of the week so keep an eye on our page!

"Please also remember that we are still providing lunches in Milnafua on Wednesday and Friday at 12pm so pop along and see us for a hot meal.

"Fingers crossed we will be back outdoors and going ahead with our programmes next week!"
