THE loss of a Ross-shire charity credited with easing the burden of hundreds of people down the years has been lamented by the Highland Cross team.

As previously reported, the charity SOAR, offering respite and activities for children and young people with additional needs in Ross-shire, has had to close.

The charity trustees cited a combination of factors including funding challenges, staffing and the impact of Covid-19.

The Highland Cross, which organises the hugely popular annual fundraising triathlon which has benefited many charities down the years, said: "Knowing the quality of the folk involved in SOAR this is not a decision that would have been taken lightly and our heart goes out to all involved, especially the young people and thier carers who have lost this amazing service.

"Highland Cross was proud to sponsor SOAR with vehicles in 2006 and 2016."

Closure of Invergordon project is a bitter blow to parents
