PUBLIC toilets at a popular Ross-shire beauty spot are set to remain closed until the spring for upgrading works.

Facilities at Rogie Falls, near Contin, are due to remain shut until April 1 to allow works on the water supply to be carried out.

A Highland Council spokesperson said: "The works are related to providing an upgrade works to the water supply to make it more reliable. We expect this work to be completed in April and the toilets will open as soon as work is finished.

"The Rogie Falls toilets are on a private water supply, with septic tanks which is why upgrade works are required to make this water supply more reliable year-round."

Alternative public toilets are available at Silverbridge, near Garve, where recent borehole works have been completed.
