A SHOP targeted by a tobacco thief in a night-time raid has posted CCTV images of the man who broke in.

The publication of the images comes just hours after police issued an appeal over the break-in at Culbokie's Spar and Post Office on the Black Isle.

The break-in, which involved the theft of an undisclosed "quantity of tobacco", occurred sometime between 12.20am and 12.35am on Tuesday morning.

Last night, police issued an appeal for information in connection with the crime.

Detective Constable Chris Robertson, at Alness, said: "We would be keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of the shop just before or after midnight.

"Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to call police on the 101 number, quoting the reference 0091 21 July 2020."

The shop has now posted images of the suspect on its Facebook page and has urged anyone who has information about the break-in to contact police.

"Anyone recognise this guy from his clothing?" said the shop's page. "Quite distinctive stripes on trousers. Had white balaclava and gloves on.

"He broke into shop at 12.25am this morning and stole a quantity of tobacco."
