Weaned and store cattle sale prices from Dingwall and Highland Marts

DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd sold 445 weaned calves and store cattle at a sale yesterday.

Store bullocks (243) averaged 224.5p (last year 229.3p) and sold to 287.2p per kg for a 195kg Limousin cross from South Cuidreach, Earlish and £1,250 gross for 587kg Limousin cross from Fleucharry, Dornoch.

Store heifers (183) averaged 212.8p (last year 225.5p) and sold to 277.2p per kg for 202kg Beef Shorthorn cross from 1 & 2 Achnabourin, Strathnaver and £1,190 gross for a 545kg Limousin cross from Fleucharry, Dornoch.

Young Bulls (19) sold to £950 gross for a Limousin from Tomchrasky, Glenmoriston.

The verdict: “A mixed show of store cattle cashed in at comparable rates to those witnessed at sale this last couple of weeks.”

The mart yesterdat sold 111 OTM feeding cattle.

OTM prime & feeding cattle (111) averaged 112.4p (last year 116.8p) and sold to 150.9p per kg for a 795kg Aberdeen Angus cross from 8 Linicro, Portree and £1,420 gross for a 985kg Charolais cross from Woodside, Strathpeffer.
