POLICE and fire crews were called out after a car ploughed off the road and onto the shore front near Invergordon this afternoon.

Emergency services were called out after a grey Skoda Superb left the B817 road between Invergordon and Alness at around 1.06pm and came to rest on the Cromarty Firth foreshore.

Police said no-one was injured in the crash.

Fire and rescue crews from Invergordon, Dingwall, Inverness and a water rescue unit from Fort William were initially called to the scene, but were stood down when it became clear that no-one was trapped.

The vehicle was later recovered from the scene.
