AN Alness woman is set to celebrate eight years free of cancer with a quirky challenge at an iconic local landmark to help another cause close to her heart.

Poly Melville (24) plans scaling Fyrish EIGHT times on Sunday to celebrate her personal milestone.

She was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma at just 14 and underwent a stem cell transplant.

She is now raising money for James Support Group, a Black Isle-based charity that helps people who have lost someone to suicide or struggling with mental health issues.

The group is close to her heart as it helped the family of her close friend, Fraser More.

She said: "Fraser's family is very close to mine and they find great comfort in James Support Group. What better way to make sure the money goes to good use.

"Fraser loved being outside, whether it was working or walking with his brother Lewis and dog Luna. This is just a small something I feel I can do to bring awareness, raise some money and remind everyone it’s OK not to be OK.

"Fraser is remembered by us all every day and he is missed so much."

She has raised almost £1000 so far.

She said: "I'm a bit apprehensive and may have bitten off more than I can chew but it'll be fine. I've got all this health now so I thought I'd put it to good use."

She will start the climb at 6am with a group of friends and partner Christopher Graham.
