FERRIES between Ullapool and Stornoway have been cancelled for the whole of today – amid storm force winds in The Minch.

CalMac has confirmed there will be no sailings on Wednesday owing to "weather conditions".

A spokesman said: "Due to wind speeds of up to 46mph and an extremely heavy swell all sailings from Stornoway and Ullapool are cancelled."

The cancellations also affect the overnight freight sailings in the early hours of Thursday.

The spokesman continued: "Due to adverse weather the 1am departing Stornoway and 5am departing Ullapool are cancelled.

"The [Thursday] 5pm departing Stornoway and 9pm departing Ullapool will be reviewed during the day."
