Jamie Stone MP calls on Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross residents to support the Poppy Appeal electronically this year with Revolut

Local MP Jamie Stone has today called on the thousands of Revolut users in Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross to support the Poppy Appeal by using their electronic donations feature.
Every November, millions of people across the country proudly put on their poppies and raise vital funds for our veterans as part of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal – the legion’s red poppy is a symbol of both remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.
In 2020 The Royal British Legion is asking everyone to back the Poppy Appeal in a new way because like so many things, the appeal has to adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Royal British Legion and Revolut, a British financial technology company, have teamed up to enable millions of people to donate directly to the Poppy Appeal through the Revolut donations feature. There are thousands of Revolut customers in Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross.
With Revolut, people in the Far North can support the Poppy Appeal each time they spend by automatically rounding up their card transactions to the nearest pound and instantly donating the difference. Revolut users can also make regular recurring payments or one-off donations.
Every penny of each donation goes directly to the Poppy Appeal and the service is completely free for the Royal British Legion.
Jamie Stone MP said: “Every November, thousands of people in our constituency proudly put on their poppies and raise vital funds for our veterans. But like so many things this year, the Poppy Appeal has had to adapt to Covid-19.
"That is why I am delighted to support Revolut’s innovative partnership with the Royal British Legion to enable Revolut users in the Highlands to make their donation in a Covid-secure manner this year.
"This is a great example of an innovative British company using world-class technology to support our communities at a very difficult time.”
Nicholas Taylor, Revolut’s public affairs manager, said: “I am delighted that from today, people in Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross can donate directly to the Poppy Appeal through the Revolut Donations feature. Revolut Donations allows people to give effortlessly to the charities that they care about in a Covid-secure way.”
