Black Isle Farmers Society bursary cash available for young Highland farming and agriculture hopefuls
A bursary scheme aimed at helping young Highland people who are seeking a life in farming or agriculture will open for applications again next week.
The Black Isle Farmers’ Society Educational/Vocational Bursary seeks to provide support to young people who are looking to study and gain qualifications in a farming or agriculturally-related subject.
The bursary is open to anyone aged 16 to 26 who it seeking to gain qualifications that are either educational or vocational in nature.
This year’s round of applications open from March 1 and run until April 15/
Tom Henderson, president of the society, said that the scheme has made more than 50 awards since it was introduced in 2016, He urged anyone who is eligible to apply to contact the society for an application form and criteria, as there is only a six-week window to submit applications.
Since the start of this scheme Black Isle Farmers’ Society have seen successful applicants use the awards to help fund HGV licences; sheep shearing courses; study tours to name a few. Tom added that any young person currently thinking of taking up any educational or vocational training to make an application.
