If you're a specialist in weevils, good at identifying birds or just interested in learning about wildlife, High Life Highland’s Countryside Rangers would love your help.

Countryside Ranger Marcia Rae has been leading a regular guided walk at Lily Loch in Muir of Ord throughout the year to record the wildlife.

She said: “So far, with the help of some local volunteers, we’ve recorded 101 species and we’re hopeful that we’ll record many more before the end of the year.

“A lot have been common species, but there have been a few surprises - just last month we recorded a Tree bumblebee on site, a new record for the area.”

Budding naturalists can join in the fun at Lily Loch in Muir of Ord on July 26 between 10am and 3pm.

Ranger-led activities throughout the day will include pond dipping and bug hunting, and visitors are free to drop along at any point to say what they have seen in the area.

Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available, and the team will be set up by the parking area from Tarradale Gardens.
