Cycling Without Age Scotland Ullapool group gets Broomie rolling again
Ullapool's Cycling Without Age group has celebrated getting back out and about.
The nationwide initiative allows trained volunteers to take people out for a ride in a specially constructed rickshaw-style tricycle.
A number of communities in Ross-shire now run similar schemes which have been shown to play a part reducing isolation and forging a sense of community.
The group posted: "Great to be back out with Broomie a fine morning out with Isobel and her grand-daughter Abbie. Highlight was a socially-distanced chat over the garden gate with Effie, good friends who haven't seen each other for months. We'll be doing training and refreshers for volunteers old and new in the next while so please get in touch if you'd like to get involved.
"Happy to hear from anyone who'd like us to take them out for a ride too."
The group has also made a series of training videos for volunteers as resource while Covid-19 restrictions limit meetings.
The idea is to show how to get Broomie out, set up for a ride, and stored away again.
There are 19 in total, all under one minute long.
The Cycling Without Age Scotland Ullapool group has its own Facebook page.
