A “bridge issue” has closed one of the roads linking a Ross community to a busy trunk road.

Highland Council said the unclassified road from Achnagarron to Rosskeen and the Invergordon coast road will be closed until engineers can check it out.

It said this would take place in the week commencing Monday, January 6, but did not say if it would be Monday or later.

The road joins the A9 next to Rosskeen Free Church and heads south over the small bridge that is currently closed and on to the B817 just west of Invergordon.

Confirming the closure, Highland Council said: “[The] U1474 from Achnagarron to B817 Rosskeen, Invergrdon road closed due to bridge issue. Will remain closed until an engineer can be on site w/c January 6.”

The council did not specify what the bridge issue was, but the area had experienced heavy rain and flooding last week, with the A9 closed for hours due to flash flooding at nearby Tomich, and flooding on other roads around Invergordon and Alness.
