Emergency services are battling a serious house fire north of Lochinver.

Four Sutherland and Wester Ross fire crews and a senior fire officer are at the scene and have been battling the blaze at Drumbeg on the B869 road since just after 4pm today.

It is not yet known whether there have been any casualties, but police and ambulance crews are also understood to be present.

The blaze has forced the closure of the B869, with diversions in place.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The B869 at Drumbeg has been closed due to a fire and emergency services are in attendance.

“Motorists are asked to use the A894 alternative route.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Four of our pumps, two from Ullapool, one from Kinlochbervie and one from Achiltibuie, are attending the house fire.

“We got the call at 16.03 hours and a senior officer is instructing at the scene.”
