A9 crash blocks southbound carriageway of Inverness to Thurso trunk road near Munlochy junction

A crash has partially blocked the A9 north of Inverness at the turn-off for Munlochy.

Reports say there is a heavy build-up of traffic with the Inverness to Thurso trunk road blocked in a southbound direction.

UPDATE: A9 clear after crash near Munlochy

The accident was reported by Traffic Scotland just before 12 noon today and drivers are advised to avoid the area or approach with caution.

It is not yet known if there have been any casualties in the accident or the number of vehicles involved. Police have been asked for details.

A Traffic Scotland spokesman said: “The A9 is currently restricted southbound at Munlochy near North Kessock due to a road traffic incident.

“Motorists are advised to use caution on approach and allow extra time for their journey.”

An AA Scotland spokeswoman said: “The road is partially blocked with slow traffic due to a crash on A9 southbound at the B9161 (Munlochy turn off).”
