BREAKING: A9 closed in both directions at Tain after collision

The A9 has been closed in both directions at Tain due to a collision, Traffic Scotland has confirmed.

The alert was raised just after 12.30pm. An update at 1.30pm confirmed that a local diversion has been put in place.

Traffic is being advised to take care on approach as queues build.

A statement from Traffic Scotland said: “The A9 at Tain is currently closed in both directions due to a collision.

“A local diversion is now in place, although traffic is still very slow in the area.

“Traffic is being held at the scene and beginning to tailback. Please take care on approach.”
