David Duguid, owner of Picaresque Books, assembled a veritable “plot” of authors to autograph their works.

Among them were local children’s writer Barbara Henderson and adult novelist Helen Sedgwick, with donations also coming from Ian Rankin and Val McDermid.

The whole lot will now be auctioned at Fraser Auction Room at Dingwall Mart next Friday in aid of book donation and library development charity Book Aid.

Mr Duguid said: “The auction room is waiving its fee, and authors have donated and signed books.

“I think the written word is so important to people and the way in which Book Aid International gives people books, it allows them to see a different world.”
