FERRY passengers in Wester Ross are being urged to book in advance as much as possible amid continuing Covid-19 safety measures.

CalMac made the plea after unveiling its planned timetable for the winter months.

Journeys for the period from October 19 to March 25 are now available for booking following the timetable's launch.

Customers are being encouraged to make reservations online, as it is expected that both the website and phone lines will be busier than usual at first and a queuing system will be used during high demand.

Robert Morrison, Director of Operations for CalMac, said: "The winter timetable has been released following consultation with Transport Scotland, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board. As Scotland is still in phase three of covid restrictions, there are slight changes to some sailings and capacity is still less than usual.

"We are encouraging passengers to plan ahead as much as possible and to wear face coverings when required to do so, unless they are exempt. More information about the measures we are taking to keep staff and passengers safe can be found in our travel guidelines on our website."
