A BOATING pond kiosk in a Ross town could be set for a new life as a café – and local views are being sought.

Highland Council has launched a consultation over proposals to change the use of the Wildlife Pond Kiosk on Tain Links from storage use to a café providing food and drink.

Because the kiosk site is Common Good, public views are being sought until January 19.

"The council is keen to hear the community’s views on the proposal," said a Highland Council spokesman. "All submissions will be given full regard before a decision on whether, and how, to proceed is made.

"Consultation representations, responses and any final decision will be published on the council’s website.

"The period provided for this public consultation is longer than the statutory required eight-week period due to the proximity of the festive period and current Covid-19 restrictions.

The full consultation document is available here.

Guidance on the process can be found here.

Written responses can be submitted by email to commongood@highland.gov.uk or by post to Sara Murdoch, The Highland Council HQ, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX.
