A BLACK Isle school has reached out to pupils – and former students – who might be struggling during lockdown.

Fortrose Academy said in a post tagged #WellbeingWednesday that the wellbeing of pupils and their families is "really important to us and we feel that being at the heart of the community it is really important that we also reach out to the wider community".

It said it is doing that with the work of the Black Isle wellbeing group.

It said: "We realise that during the current time we are not seeing our pupils face to face, hearing all about what is happening in their lives and thinking about the support they might need at different times. Although we are trying to still do a lot of this online, we realise there can be things we might not hear about.

"Please remember that although the school building is closed, we are still here to support pupils and families as we would normally do. Please get in touch with Guidance teachers as normal if there are things happening that might impact on your child’s wellbeing.

"We still have agencies working alongside us to provide support. We know that families are coping with many complex things at this time. We welcome the chance to support you if you would like to share anything and that would help us think about how we support all of our families now and when schools return.

"For those of you that are past pupils, please remember that we always commit to being there for you, no matter how long it is since you were a pupil at Fortrose Academy. So we would like to extend that offer of assistance to you as well, if you need it.

"We know that there will be staff in the school who were familiar supports to you all when you were a pupil. If you feel you would like to access that support again get in touch with Guidance or SMT and we will organise that for you. Contact details are on our website."
