Pupils at Black Isle secondary Fortrose Academy take on National Young Writer Competition under auspices of Dingwall Rotary Club

BUDDING writers at Fortrose Academy have shown their promise at a contest promoted by Rotary International.

The National Young Writer Competition is a three-stage competition designed to support and encourage the development of writing skills.

A number of S2 pupils from Fortrose Academy entered this year on the given theme, environment. Sophie Ferrier won the District North of Scotland heat with her poem “I am a Glacier” and now goes forward to the UK Finals. Millie Conroy was also a prize winner with her piece of fiction entitled “The Great Barrier Grief”. Brian Parry from Dingwall Rotary Club presented along with acting head, Jacquie Ross.
