Police who were called to a one-vehicle collision on the A82 Inverness to Drumnadrochit road found a drunk man behind the wheel when they arrived at the scene.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that a breath test carried out on 29-year-old Alexander Morrison revealed that he was almost five times the legal drink-drive limit.

Fiscal depute Sharon Ralph told the court that his car had collided with a wall and the road was strewn with debris.

The reading given from the test was 100mcg of alcohol when the legal limit is 22mcg.

Morrison, formerly of Bridgeview Drive, Inverness, and now of Brae Terrace, Munlochy, admitted to being drunk in charge of the vehicle at the time of the incident on July 20, 2020.

The court heard that he had been at a party before the collision occurred.

He was fined £320 and also had his driving licence endorsed with 10 penalty points.
