A BLACK Isle fair with a long has cancelled this year's event just over a week before it was due to be staged.

The St Boniface Fair in Fortrose had originally been scheduled for August 11.

However organisers today confirmed the event has been cancelled over "safety issues".

Fortrose and Rosemarkie Community Council posted: "With regret we have to announce the cancellation of St Boniface fair this year.

"There have been a number of safety issues to address which cut the lead time and coupled with changes to those in our contact list only a few stallholders could attend. We do not want to operate a much reduced event. Please keep August 2023 in your diary. We will be rebuilding the contacts list and relaunching spring 2023.

"We have been asked by a number of people about holding the fair on a Saturday because they miss the fair because they are working, Please let us know you thoughts.

"Please watch this space for news of forthcoming events."
