A new care home which only opened its doors in 2021 is already looking to expand in response to “growing demand”.

Plans have been lodged to build two small extensions that will add four new bedrooms at Eilean Dubh Care Home in Fortrose’s Ness Road.

The home, which was recently graded five (very good) by the Care Inspectorate, says it currently has “an extensive waiting list” and its owner, Parklands Care Homes, said the application will help it to meet local demand. The total investment is expected to be £500,000.

Under the proposals, Parklands Care Homes is seeking to extend the two wings on the building, adding two additional bedrooms to the end of each nearest Ness Road. The company stressed that the adjacent greenfield site will remain untouched.

Six new parking spaces will also be created within the existing car park if the plans are approved.
