A WOMAN who became disoriented while out walking in the Wester Ross hills spent a night out in poor conditions before raising the alarm.

That triggered a full team call out for the Dundonnell Moutain Rescue Team as well as a Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA) handler and a coastguard helicopter.

The woman became benighted after walking the Beinn Dearg four Munros circuit, the Dundonnell team reported yesterday.

The full circuit accessed by many walkers via the A835 close to Inverlael Bridge extends to around 17 miles and takes in Beinn Dearg, Cona Mheall, Meall nan Ceapraichean and Eididh nan Clach Geal.

She managed to raise the alarm early yesterday morning.

Nineteen team members joined in the search for the woman who was located two hours into the effort by Rescue 151 and was given a hot coffee to warm her up before being driven back to Inverness to recover.
