First and second places were hotly contested, the lead narrowing to only one point as teams entered the final three rounds.

These last rounds saw the leader board change as Conon Bridge’s Ben Wyvis Primary team overcame their one-point deficit before finally winning with a two-point margin over Bridgend.

Pupils from Bridgend Primary in Alness were the event's worthy runners up.

An organiser said: “All six teams had clearly worked hard preparing for the day and every pupil did both themselves and their school proud, points earned in each round gaining loud support from friends and family there to cheer them all on.”

Ben Wyvis received a trophy for their efforts and both they and Bridgend will now go on to represent the district at the quiz grand final to be held at Aberdeen's Beach Ballroom on June 14.
