REVELLERS attending the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival have been praised for their behaviour as the event enters its second day.

Police say that as of this morning, there had only been a single arrest - that of a 33-year-old man for a breach of the peace.

Five "small quantity" drug seizures were also made by police - who also had to deal with the repercussions of five missing children over the course of the first day. All were quickly reunited with parents or relatives.

A police chief said today people were abiding by the family-friendly nature of the festival, which is seeing performances from scores of acts ranging from relative unknowns to household names such as Tom Jones.

Event Commander, Chief Inspector Mark Mackay said: "There are record numbers in attendance at Belladrum this year and we are really pleased with how the festival has gone so far and made it an enjoyable weekend much to the credit of everyone in attendance".

He added: "We hope that the rest of the event continues as it has started and would like to remind all those attending with children to know their whereabouts at all times.

"Festival-goers should continue to pace themselves and we would urge anyone planning on driving away from the site tomorrow morning to carefully consider how much alcohol they drink today.

"Police Scotland - Stay Safe at Summer Festivals posters are on display around the site and we ask that everyone takes note of this advice."

Festival-goers took to Twitter to issue instand feedback on their experience. Katie Winston from Tain tweeted: "Belladrum lifts the day!"

Alan Moir seemed happy too, despite not being at the event: "I can hear #belladrum from my house on the other side of the Muir," he wrote.

Reflected the patchy weather situation on Friday, Shaun Smith lamented: "If only I had more holiday to take off work I would be enjoying the rain at #Belladrum right now."

Stuart @mechanics_tale tweeted: "Can not wait till get to take kids to things like #belladrum so many things want them to experience I never did as a kid."

Art student Hayley Fraser reflected what many without tickets to the sold out event are feeling: "Ugh wish I was at #Belladrum."

Tonight's main stage is headlined by Razorlight. The festival sold out months in advance.

The View were announced on Saturday as the "secret act" set to play The Hothouse stage at 8.45pm.
