Bealach Na Ba C1087 road closure flagged ahead of cycle event on steep twisting mountain pass popular with NC500 visitors on reoute to Applecross in Wester Ross

A WESTER Ross route leading to a community higely popular with NC500 visitors will close for three hours for a cycle event.

Highland Council is giving advance warning of the Saturday, May 7 closure affecting the C1087 Bealach Na Ba.

The notorious steep, winding mountain pass leading to and from Applecross will be closed from its junction with the A896 Shieldaig-Kishorn-Lochcarron roadwestwards to its junction with the C1091 Applecross-Shieldaig (coast) road from 10.30am to 1.30pm that day to allow for the cycle event.

Highland Council puts the distance affected at 16.5km.

Pedestrian access and access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

An alternative route via the A896 Shieldaig-Kishorn-Lochcarron Road and the C1091 Applecross-Shieldaig (coast) road is available.
