A POPULAR Wester Ross venue has announced the cancellation of a planned Friday night gig owing to "unforeseen circumstances".

Astrid had been due to perform at the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool on Friday night.

The band, which has strong ties to Isle of Lewis, was due to play with Inverness act Chancers on the same bill.

The Ceilidh Place however tonight posted: "We are very sad to have to announce that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the gig this Friday with Astrid is cancelled.

"Those of you who have already bought tickets should contact Reception (01854 612103) to arrange a refund."

Astrid had been eagwerly anticipating the Ullapool gig as recently as yesterday on their social media pages.

They are also due to play Stornoway Town Hall on Saturday night.

The band earlier announced: "These will probably be our last full band shows this year as we're going back into the studio!"
