BAGS full of "everyday essentials and fun" are winding their way to every primary school age youngster in Cromarty – thanks to Tesco and the local community council.

The initiative aims to helping provide support and raise smiles during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"With funding from the Tesco Bags of Help Scheme, we are pleased to present every child of primary school age, in Cromarty, with a bag containing a mixture of everyday essentials and fun," said the Cromarty and District Community Council chairwoman, Paige Shepherd.

She added: "A big thank you to Tesco for making the Cromarty Primary School Bags to Help happen.

"Not only did they finance this community council project from their Bags of Help Fund, but through Liz Sutherland, their community champion, they also helped supply lots of what went in the bags, to help bring smiles to young faces during these difficult times.

"As always, Liz was amazing, having often helped the Cromarty Youth Café in the past.

"Lastly, thank you as well to Gail at the Cromarty Arts Trust who worked wonders in printing out the bag flyers, at very short notice!"

The flyers include simple tips and advice on how to stay positive, and also highlight the support available to youngsters at the Cromarty Youth Café, where the team "is always available to listen to and support young folk".
