MEMBERS of an Easter Ross fishing club are being asked to follow social distancing guidelines when they return to the riverbank.
With angling permitted from Friday as an approved form of exercise under an easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions announced today by the Scottish Government, it's expected many will again feel the pull of the river.
Alness Angling Club confirmed that its waters will also open tomorrow in line with other local fisheries including the Novar Estate.
It said: "While fishing, all fishers must continue with social distancing restrictions by keeping at least two metres away from all other people unless they are from your household.
"It is also advisable to continue all hygiene measures including using hand gel if you touch gates and hand washing when returning home after fishing.
"It would be understandable if there are several people fishing at the same time so please be courteous and if someone is coming behind move down pools at least one step every two casts in line with the club rules. Please also make sure you carry your membership card.
"While river conditions right now are not ideal but hopefully we will see the first fish of the season from our water in the coming days."
